Jem: So, I'm sure by now you've heard about Jeff Healey dying of cancer on Sunday at the age of 41 and now, we find out that Sexy Swayze, 55 and co-star to Healey in Road House, is battling pancreatic cancer. Apparently, the survival rate is dismally low for this type of cancer but Patrick is responding well to treatment and remaining optimistic.

How sad. I hope he gets well. I don't think I want to live in a world where Johnny Castle dies. Who's going to get Baby out of that corner? Who's going to teach Keanu the joys of surfing and manly loving? And most importantly, who else could teach the patrons of the Double Deuce how to get along better than James Dalton? Oh, and how to rip a guy's throat out if absolutely necessary. Which, it totally was.

Gidget: I do like this video! And we all know that i love Kylie. BUT, i do like 'In my Arms' better. Both songs are great and fun to dance too. I just think 'In My Arms' is a killer track.

Jem: Okay, I have a pretty big crush on the JoeFresh label. I think they have a lot of really cute stuff and it's made even better by the super teeny-tiny price tag. It just goes to show that we can have quality for reasonable prices. I think these two looks are pretty adorable. Although, the dress might be a bit tough to wear.

It also reminds me of this interesting piece I saw about how there aren't very many luxury designers left anymore. How houses like Chanel (my once-beloved), Dolce and Gabbana, Versace and Louis Vuitton have become mass produced and marketed nightmares. There's nothing luxury left about them besides the price tag. Hermès is really the only luxury design house left as their products are still handmade and the client is 100% responsible for deciding upon key design elements.

gidget: I am also huge fan of Joe Fresh! I was wearing a dress i got from the Joe Fresh line last summer on Friday night. I love the look of the short jacket with the shorts in the top picture. Model also has great hair, though she is a tad too pale. i am not as much a fan of the pink dress. While i do like the color of the dress, i like dresses to have more structure. The straps are a little too small.

Worst video, ever!

Jem: It doesn't surprise me in the least that Spencer directed this piece of wet garbage. Ew, ew, ew! I mean, it's so super budget and Heidi can't lip-synch at all!!! I honestly couldn't sit through the entire thing. See if you have a stronger stomach than me, Gidge.

Jem: Okay, I'm aware at how long ago this happened. I've just been too busy to post anything about it. Poor, poor Britney. It looks like her talent left with her sanity. Seriously, the song's catchy enough but it's missing something. Wouldn't you agree? It's certainly no Toxic.

And, forgive me if I'm wrong but, didn't she used to dance? Now she just sort of fumbles around. Or should I say stumbles? It's pretty obvious she's on something. It's also pretty obvious that everyone in the audience is just praying she'll fall on her face, or shave her head on stage, or do something equally outrageous. Instead, all they get is this half-assed, lack-lustre performance.

Props to the hot mama bod, though.

Jem: I like this track. It's great, and Dave Gahan is as sexy as ever. Seriously the ONLY guy who looks amazing in a wife beater and tight jeans!

Heidi Takes a Stand!

Jem: Okay, I am not a Heidi fan. I don't think it's cool that she picked her boyfriend over her Best best. I also think she has an EXTREMELY annoying speaking voice akin to nails on a chalkboard.

But last night's episode of The Hills made me want to hug Heidi and take her out for cosmos. She finally stood up for herself by painting over that slightly-cool-but-highly-innappropriate Hollywood mural that Spencer "surprised" her with.

You should have seen the look on Spencer's face when he walked in. I love the way she made her point to him. "We can decide what to do with this wall together."

He was pissed. But she was completely right. They're living together and are going to get married. (Rumour alert: the engagement is fake!) Spencer has to learn to talk to Heidi about stuff before just jumping in headfirst.

Anyway, she made momma proud last night.

Jem: Ok, I really like Nicole Kidman's hair here. It's a really pretty champagne blonde and the cut and length are nice...I'm thinking I'll bring this pic to my hair guru, Natalie the next time I get my hair done.

gidget: new professional picture of the reunited Spice Girls has been released. Emma looks very nice down front. Posh is all super popstar in the back. Scary Spice looks like she is trying to hold the laughter in, and Gerri is channeling the earth mother. Yet i think Sporty Spice's look says it.....'It's only for a couple months. You can do it. just smile for the camera. just smile for the camera.'

Looks like The Spice Girls are going to add some dates to their schedule. Now that makes sense. I am still wondering how much tickets will be. i bet the price will be outrageous!

Side note: Steve Martin is now a married man again. He married his gf of about three years at his L.A. home. His now wife is 35 and he is 61. Not that age matters, but you know....at least she is not 25! Not to be rude, but in ten years he is in his 70's and she will be in her 40's. People in their 70's are not generally as active as people in their 40's (should be).

She's so lucky...she's a star...

Britney Spears' recent self-arranged interview with OK! Magazine was a catastrophe, according to TMZ. The website is reporting that Spears’ behavior during the interview was “nothing less than a meltdown.” The photos were so bad, multiple sources told the site, that to publish them could “kill her career.”

TMZ says the singer’s eyes rolled back in her head at one point and that she took frequent bathroom breaks, returning in a different mood every time. Britney reportedly was so paranoid during the entire interview that at one point, she feared the ceiling was about to cave in on her.

According to the website, Spears also shocked onlookers during the OK! shoot with several less-than-tidy moves. The singer reportedly snacked on fried chicken then wiped her greasy hands on a several-thousand-dollar Gucci dress, staining it. Britney also reportedly cleaned up her dog’s feces with a Chanel dress after the dog relieved itself on-set.

The magazine was apparently weighing whether to run the Britney piece and risk damaging her career or to shelve it.

In an exclusive statement to TMZ on Tuesday, OK! Editor-in-Chief Sarah Ivens said the magazine is going ahead with publication. "OK! Magazine spent a heartbreaking day with Britney Spears and witnessed first-hand an emotional cry for help that will leave you shocked and sad," she said. "This week, on newsstands Friday, the truth will be told."

Jem: Okay, I'm actually looking forward to this show. Even though it looks EXTREMELY contrived and fake. But, hey, I watch The Hills and that's less realistic than Beverly Hills 90210...what!? Those were real issues, people.

I'm happy to see that Corey Feldman is doing so well both personally and professionally. And I'm thrilled to see that Corey Haim is still alive! Seriously, he was looking pretty rough there for a while. But, it looks like he's kicked the drugs to the curb.

"Madonna has teamed up with Annie Lennox on Lennox's new album, Songs Of Mass Destruction. Madonna features as part of a chorus of female singers on the track "Sing," which also includes Sarah McLachlan, Dido, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Shakira, Bonnie Raitt, Gladys Knight, Pink, Fergie, Melissa Etheridge, and KT Tunstall.

The song will raise funds for the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), whose own vocal group The Generics inspired Lennox to create the track for her new album."

While i wish it was a full on duet between Annie and Madonna this is still major.

A scary day for New Yorkers

Now, I don't want to bring this blog down but, this news piece kind of shocked me. Can you imagine how scared people in Manhattan must have been when a geyser of steam came out of the ground. One person was killed and 2 others were injured.

They said the steam rose as high as the Chrysler Building.

CBC News said that milllions of pounds of steam flows beneath the city in order to operate heating and cooling systems for the city.

At least they're being GREEN about it.

gidget: I watched Victoria Beckham: Coming To America last night, and now i like Posh Spice. I always knew she had a good sense of humour, but it was great to see an hour of her being kinda silly. She is so ridiculous, it is awesome. If you missed it this week, then make sure to check it out next Monday on NBC. I do not know if it will be as good 'cause David Beckham will be around (not that i don not like D.BEckham, just do not find him funny like Posh. Then again......maybe i will).

Jem: I totally fell in love with Posh Spice, too! She's just so dramatic and fun.

When she went to that tea party with the socialites...and got pissed! And then her assistant says to her "Ok, first of all, you're pissed!" That was funny!
But I can't believe I ever said I wanted to be a socialite...I changed my mind. Although, I always had the East Coast in my mind when I said that.

And the next time I have to get my Driver's License pic redone, I'm bringing a team of hair and makeup people and then asking for the MTO to do some airbrushing. CLASSIC!

gidget: So Gwen has reunited with the boys of No Doubt and they are working on new material. Lucky fans in Anaheim got to see Gwen perform with No Doubt during the encore of her recent solo tour. WooHoo! I like Gwen, but I love Gwen with No Doubt.

Oooh....the anticipation is building!

gidget: SO, SPice Girls are going to be making announcement next Thursday. I wonder what the announcement could be? Hmmm.......maybe they are going to make Spice World 2! you are so right Jem, spice girls have some amazing singles, and some absolute crap. They were never my fav. I actually thought they were a little too trashy. Hahahaha...how funny is that?! And by trashy i mean they couldn't dance worth crap. None of them could manage successful solo careers and now they are getting back together. IS it not crazy that Posh became the biggest celebrity of all? She didn't even do anything in the Spice Girls. Anyway, Say you'll be there is kick ass, and the video is funny.

gidget: i wonder if the spice girls will do a reunion. i know sporty spice seems to e the one who is most resistent to the idea, but is not saying that she will 'Never' so a reunion. i would totally go see the spice girls live. Anyway, thinking about all these spice girls rumours made me want to listen to Spice Up Your Life.


Jem: Oh, the Spice Girls...they had some good, fun hits and they had some huge misses, too. I don't know if they'll ever have a reunion but I would definitely go see them. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't react to it as strongly as Backstreet Boys, though. I mean, my love for BSB is on a whole, new level.

Do you ever watch that House of Carters show? I only catch it sometimes. That family is messed. But it's extremely cool of Nick to try and keep his family together. Even though, all they do is fight. And, he allegedly beat his then-girlfriend Paris...and that's not cool. Violence is never the answer. And, um...Spice Up Your Life!

Jem: sorry about that Gidget...who knew my Karaoke stylings at the Shanghai would stay with you so long. What a great video, though. I totally forgot how good it is.

I also want to say that i really like katie holmes new haircut. I think she looks cute with her new hair ( and i am NOT a katie holmes fan. Joey Potter was one of the most annoying characters on television). I also think that it is lame that everyone is saying she is just copying Posh. Katie's haircut is much more playful and casual looking. Posh's hair is very symmetrical, and well....posh looking. I also like Posh's hair for the record. Symmetrical hair looks amzing on robots.

Jem: Wow! You weren't kidding about that hair! It is super duper cute! And probably more manageable for a mom. I was watching Dawson's Creek the other day...actually, no, it was Teaching Mrs. Tingle (what!? It was on TV) and I thought "Ha! You're going to marry Tom Cruise and you don't even know it."

If you had told KH that she was going to marry Tommy, she never would have believed you.

I do the same thing when I watch old episodes of Friends. "Oh Monica, you don't even know you're going to marry Chandler." Yes, I'm a nerd.

gidget: rarrrr! Timbaland showcased his unteddybear like attitude last night (or the night before) in Germany. Letting the Germans know he is more like a Grizzly than a Winnie he beat some man up. Reportedly, TImbaland and the german fellow got in a fight when the german fellow was upset his gf was talking to Timbaland. Nice cover!!!! Timbaland was in town 'cause Justin was performing (and as we know, Tim i go the gym was there 'cause he has a little number in the show). The altercation happened after the Justin show. Obviously the german fellow was talking smack about Timbaland's love a Mr. Justin Timberlake. That's what i say anyway.

Hmmmm.....i dunno. It is not as good as Hit Me Baby One More time, or when he sang Light My Fire. It is not even as good as when he sang Like A Virgin (and he effed up those lyrics). Kinda predictable song and performance. Come on Julien baby, you can do something different with a song. gidget:Spent the last two days helping my parents clean out weeds from the garden and cleaning the yard. To keep motivated the radio was on a classic rock station. They didn't play Foreigner so i have to play it for myself today.

Jem: Cold As Ice...good pick, Gidget! I love that track. But, then again, you know I love Foreigner. The Dragon Slayer often makes fun of the type of music I listen to and I remind myself that he slays dragons for a living. What does he know?

What kind of Classic Rock station doesn't play Foreigner? I'd call that false advertising.

Julien is at it again. you may recall his rendition of 'Like a Virgin', last night he did a lovely take on Britney's 'Hit me baby one more time'. Seriously, if American Idol was as ridiculous as this, i would be all over it!

gidget: Poor lindsay. Her big 21st bday was coming up and she all got herself charged with a DUI. Man, must be a bummer. Oh wait, there's more. The cops found cocaine in her car, and cocaine is actually illegal. Poor L.Lo, i don't think she knew that. Can you blame her, everyone does it in Hollywood. stupid Hollywood stars, is DUI the new pilates? seems like everyone is doing it. OH, and do not forget L.Lo is not 21 yet so she is technically not allowed to drink in the USA (that includes Hollywood).

decided to go with something from Feist's first album cause i keep hearing the new album everywhere i go (and that gets annoying). Video is cute. Feist can't dance, but i like how she tries! Buck 65 is cute in the video too.

First Bitten

gidget: So, SJP is launching her clothing line, Bitten, at Steve and Barry's on June 7. There have been many critics complaining that the line is boring. Well, let's think about this shall we? SJP made the decision that she wanted all the clothes to be under $20. Unlike some celebrities and designers who design for, lets say, H& M and target, SJP wanted to keep the clothes affordable for all women in the United States. That means clothes that stay under the price of $30. And that does not often happen when there are celebrity lines released. SJP also wanted to focus on clothes that women wear everyday, and wanted the clothes to be comfortable. So, perhaps what some wannabe fashionistas are disappointed with is that it is SJP, and not Carrie Bradshaw who designed the clothing.
From what i have seen of the line, i like it. Now, people who know me know i have a crush on SJP and may think i just like it cause of SJP. No no no. Anytime someone starts attempting to show people that they can look nice without spending a ton of money i think it is wonderful. Also, SJP made her line available in a whole range of sizes (sizes 2-22). When she was on Oprah she explained:

"This was really, really critical criteria to me," she says. "It was only a natural extension that these clothes are for every woman in this country no matter where you live, what you look like, what your skin color is like, what you are, where you are in the economic strata, everything. And that it's not for us to decide what looks good on somebody else. It's for women of all sizes to determine what makes them feel good."

Sure the clothes are simple (it's still Steve and Barry's) but there are some cute pieces in the line. And if she keeps up with it, who knows what another line could bring?

Jem: Okay, so this news is a little bit old but it's worth mentioning. Even though Kylie is no longer dating Oliver Martinez, she is still seeing his dog, Sheba.

Kylie says that Sheba was a great comfort to her while she was going through cancer treatments.

Sheba escorted Kylie all around Paris on a recent trip.

Gidget: Actually Jem, there is a much bigger reason to love Kylie this week. The reason she has been in South America is because she is currently working on a MUSICAL! Now that explains why she was hanging out with a film director.

gidget: Bob Geldof has some thoughts one the whole 'Live Earth' concert that Al Gore is putting on this summer. Bob wants to know what the specific goal is for the shows? And why in heck did you use the name Live Earth when it sounds so much like Live 8? Huh Huh...so why did you Gore? Can't think up an original name? Hehehe...Geldof still hopes the shows are a success but raises some very good questions. Geldof is quoted as saying "I would only organize (Live Earth) if I could go on stage and announce concrete environmental measures from the American presidential candidates, Congress or major corporations," he told the newspaper. Well, there have been reports of Kylie spending time with a married Chilean Film Director. Not only is the director married, but his wife is expecting their second child soon. I knew Kylie was not a homewrecker and that she must just be friends with the man. Turns out i was right. Kylie released a statement explaining how the two are just friends.
Kylie even states "I have never been unfaithful to a partner and would find it completely immoral to be involved with a married man."
Man, i just love her!

Sexy M.Fgidget: Prince is going to be doing 21 concerts in London at various venues. He is taking a little break from his Vegas club to do the shows in London. After the marathon London series, he is going to be taking another break ( so i don't know when he will be back performing in Vegas) Why is he taking a break? to study the Bible. No i am not joking, that is what he wants to do. Good for him. The Bible is a big book!

So, Mr. Timberlake is reporting that he will be going back into the studio with Madge. Ugh. He may even sing a duet with The Queen. He claims that "he is a fan....a fan that tricked Madonna".Whatever, she just wants to work with your boyfriend Timberland and you tag along. But please, for the public sake, take a gd break. I am sick of your stupid face!

Rumours are going around that Penelope Cruz and Lenny Kravitz are hooking up. Well, they are spending a lot of time together, so that must mean they are hooking up. Man, Lenny hooks up with anything. But to be fair, so will Penelope.

gidget: More tori amos news. NME is reporting that Tori is working on a musical, and that she is inspired by Andrew Llyod Webber. This could either be amazing, or horrific. no middle. i guess the problem may lye in hearing other people sing songs Tori has written. And not only singers, but musical theatre singers. gidget: you know, it's been a pretty good year for music so far. Bjork's new album is amazing. Declare Independence is the song of the summer. Then again i have always loved songs where Bjork goes a little crazy mad and yells. Still, the song is amazing and i can not get enough of it! It reminds me of Pluto a little, except Declare Indpendence is calling all of us to action. Actually, that is what i find interesting about her new album, different songs remind of different previous Bjork songs. Some critics are saying that the album is going back to Debut and Post days, but i hear some Homogenic in there as well. I feel so lucky that i have been able to see Bjork live, even more lucky that i saw her during her Vespertine tour. Hearing her perform with a full orchestra was chilling, to say the least.

I have been so focused on Bjork's new album i keep overlooking the fact that Tori Amos has a new album. I use to be a HUGE tori fan. Like many a high school girls i wore out my copy of Under The Pink and Little Earthquakes. I was not interested in the last two albums she released, but i am digging the stuff i am hearing off her new album American Doll Posse. I love how Tori plays with different characters, and even physically embodies them in the album art work.

i have never seen Tori in concert, and she is one of the artists on my to see list. i just never seem to be able to catch one of her shows. Even this tour she is in Europe when i am in North AMerica. No Doubt she will be in North America when i am in Europe. Man, the 16 year old girl inside me is a little sad over the fact that i can not seem to see Tori live.

Sunday Morning Music
gidget: a classic tune, by an amazing singer. I just love lesley gore. She is adorable in the clip of "you don't own Me". Can you believe she scored a top hit with 'It's my Party' (produced by Quincy Jones) when she was only 16? She also turned down television and movie roles and stopped touring to go to college. Smart and talented.

Prince, Elton, and Bette oh my!

gidget: i have got to get meself down to Sin City. So many amazing shows to see. Prince, and Elton, so good. ANd now, Bette Midler is going to be there.....that is just too perfect. i must give credit to my dear friend zio for showing me the true awesome power that is Bette. Now that lady can just kill a performance. She sends chills down the spine with vocal power. And for those of you who think Bette is only Wind Beneath my wings and from a distance, go rent The Rose. Plus, Wind beneath my wings is a good song, so suck it!

Jem: After a year of waiting, BBC's Robin Hood is being released on DVD in Canada. I swear, if I'm to continue being married to a BBC actor, I'm going to have to invest in a region-free DVD player...it's not right that I have to wait an entire year when the entire United Kingdom has had access to my Richard.

Richard plays a baddie in this series: Guy de Gisborne. He plays Robin's competition for Maid Marion. As if someone would pick another boy over Richard...

Gidget, I should have this when you come to visit me in June...guess what we'll be doing!!?

gidget: Oh Jem, you must be going crazy with antici...........pation. That's the problem with BBC actors, we have to wait to see them. I was just thinking about how I hope Michael Fassbender is more movies a.s.a.p, cause he is too cute to not be on screen.

gidget: this is why youtube is so amazing. A VERY early performance of Madonna singing 'Everybody'. I love early Madonna! Her outfit reminds me of the outfit she wears in the Who's That Girl video. You know, the part where she is hanging out/singing to the kids. Well....she is wearing a similar hat and a pair of shorts in the video.


So, did you hear that Britney Lip synched another show last night? Man, stay home and lip synch in front of you bathroom mirror like everyone else girl. i feel sorry for anyone who paid to see a 15 mins. performance.

Give me a Break!
gidget: so britney performed a little set last night to prove that she is still.....i dunno how to finish that sentence. Anyway, the girl performed for 16 mins! And by perform i mean lip sync every song. At least that is what is being reported. Pictures and clips from the performance are making there way out and here is a short clip of her lip syncing Toxic (which is a kick a** song).

Like, what is the point of this! you're not singing and the dancing is lame. go home and hang with your kids.Practice dancing in your basement, and maybe take some singing lessons. Then after a couple months maybe you can try to perform on stage again. But really, you do not need to. Maybe it is time to hang up the hooker outfits and try something new.

in other news, Madonna did not actually get a new haircut. She just actually styled it. recent pics show her hair looking blonde and wavy. i am glad the colour is the same (i wasn't sure how i felt about her strawberry blonde colour), but i really like the style she had going on in the pic. I think it would have made a very nice haircut. then again, i also loved the bob wig she wore in the jump video.

Jem: Of course you're diggin' on the short hair styles lately, Gidge. You've been talking about cutting your hair short for a while so it makes sense!

Got a brand new haircutgidget: Madonna got a new haircut and colour. I like the cut. Very nice. Her outfit is killer as well. Very chic. I love the bag! She looks very sophisticated.I think i need to see more pictures to decide if i like the hair colour. Once again Madonna looks AMAZING!
