C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R

gidget: Who would have known that this past weekend would be as great as the weekend before last?! It all started with me wanting to watch Grease 2. I only had a old VHS copy that was sorta broken. I had to rent it, too bad that no video store in my neighbourhood had the film. How could this be?! It is a classic. Stupid Ottawa - Ruining my Life! Feeling defeated, Jem and I braved the weather to attempt to find a movie to rent that might be able to match the awesomeness of Grease 2 and Breakin'. Yes, I know, it seems like we set ourselves out for disappointment. While scanning the dvd titles and covers I suddenly came upon the glory of 'Roller Boogie'. I was sold, but decided to still read the back cover, and do you know what it said? The movie was "Love on Wheels". Showed Jem the movie and we rented it. OMG! It was one of the best movies everrrrr!!!!!!!! Linda Blair rollerskating. Amazing. Any movie that features the song "Boogie Wonderland" is awesome, but this movie features rollerskating and love. Two things that obviously go together. The film came out in 1979 and stars Linda Blair and Ray Bray. Ray was originally cast to be a stuntman for the film as he had won over 270 rollerskating trophies. The producers could not find the perfect lead and Ray was cast as Bobby James the rollerskating hottie (Come on, you can already tell it is amazing by the simple fact that the leads name is Bobby James). Originally David Kennedy was cast in the lead. But, here's the gossip, Blair and Kennedy had an off-screen romance and had broken-up. Kennedy was then canned from the film!Good thing, Ray Bray is soooooo good. Seriously, i have fallen in mad crush mode with this movie!
You would think that would be enough to make the best weekend ever, but oh no, it gets better. Jem and I could not give up on our dream of watching Grease 2 before January was over. So, we were on a quest. I
will spare you all the details, but there were judgy wudgy looks, and people attempting to tell us the masterpiece was not on dvd. But, we knew otherwise and trakced down a copy for sale. That's right, we spent Sunday afternoon listening to such classic tracks as "Lets Bowl", "C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R", and "Reproduction". "We're gonna scooore tonight. we're gonna rock, we're gonna roll, we're gonna bop, we're gonna BOWL". It was perfect.
Now all I have to do is find my own c-o-o-l r-i-d-e-r who rollerskates and fights crime! That's not asking too much, is it?
Jem: Hee hee! Just seeing the pics from "Roller Boogie" is making me grin like an idiot. I've told every single person I know about "Roller Boogie" and it's amazing awesomeness. To quote Gidget, "It's the absolute ultimate!"
Our movie quest this weekend was an arduous task but the juice was defnitely worth the squeeze.
I didn't know that such greatness could even exist on film. It was pure fun, fun, fun! And fun movies are, apparently, impossible to find in Ottawa! And, if you're looking for a fun movie and decide to ask someone to recommend something to you, be prepared for a suggestion so out of left field, it leaves you speechless.
Why don't you, dear reader, ask Gidget and I for some movie suggestions? Like, if it's a first date, or a girl's night, or if you just broke up with your boyfriend. Or, if you want to lose your virginity and learn how to surf but people tell you that girls CAN'T surf...what movie do you watch? Well, Gidget and Jem have the answer!
p.s. Grease 2 was sooo great! I have always loved it, but I forgot how much I loved it! It is such a great movie! And it works, in spite of itself!
I need a C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R!
