One Song For You
gidget: So, it's the end. I didn't get to see the last show. And now that August is almost at an end, i feel sad.
From What i've read, the final show was amazing.
I suppose it is slightly selfish to want a band to stay together forver, when they want to move on to other things.
It's amazing how a band was able to make every album so solid. And their last album was remarkable.
I was so excited. Where would the next album take us fans?
They had the energy of a 'new' band, with the experience and talent of veterans.
I will sure miss waiting for the next album to come out. Marking the day on my calendar and running to the record store the morning of the release.
When i heard they were going on an 'indefinite hiatus' i felt like it was an end of an era, even though that is a super cheesy thing to think.
i also felt old.
I read that Eddie V. performed two songs before the bands last set. he mentioned how wished he'd been around to see the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix and the Sex Pistols but that he was thankful to have been around to see Sleater-Kinney. I think most fans feel the same.
I love you s-k. Your songs have never stopped inspiring and challenging me.
my heart breaks a little today.
